To maintain the current GIA certification, the certificate holder must obtain the required number of Innovation Learning & Development Units or retake and pass the specific certification exam before the certificate expiration date.
GIA Certification Renewal Options:
Option A. Retake certified exam (passing score 80%)
Certificate holders can apply for the re-certification exam, purchase a new exam code, and retake the exam for the same certified program 24 months after the most recent certification date and one month before the certification expiration date. The passing score for the GIA re-certification exam is 80%.

Innovation cases submitted must be the submitter’s original work and cannot be copied from cases or materials which are copyrighted, owned, or created by another individual or organization. Please contact GIA before the case submission. Innovation Case Study, once submitted, will be reviewed and approved by GIA Innovation subject matter experts, and feedback and approval will be communicated back to the submitter.
How to maintain GIA Professional Certification?
Four weeks before the certification expire date, certificate holders shall submit the GIA Certification renewal application with relevant Innovation Learning & Development update or certified exam retake information.
